Nightlife a Part of Life of the People Living in the Metropolis

Nightlife is the most significant and vibrant feature of the metropolitan cities in India. Almost all the metropolitan cities of India are for the increasing culture of nightlife, but in Kochi the story is something different.

The authorities however are coming to enforce strict rules against night parties. According to government order, no alcohol will be permitted to be served after 11 pm in effect becoming deadline for all sorts of parties. This has hit hard to the party goers and more of all, some of the experts are saying that it really going to curb tourism of the city to some extent.

Most of the party organizers in the city like Kochi say that the deadline of 11 pm for liquor and parties is badly going to impact the tourism. Sidharth Vijayan of Kochi Vibes, says, “The curb on alcohol supply after 11 pm and ending night parties before 12 is not a welcoming thought.

This decision gives state an Afghanisthanish kind of image. Liquor are most for all sorts of parties and more of all, where there is large number of foreign crowds. This strict enforcement is badly going to impact the tourism as they are not used to such regulations. Most of the party goers know how to behave and so there should not be so much restrictions and rules.

After a tiresome day work most of the people like to relax and enjoy. Parties and pubs give wonderful atmosphere to socialize, but in India and particularly in Kerala, it is still considered as a taboo. Pubs and bars are considered as a place which makes money and in return gives drunkards, who creates nuisance and also indulge in notorious activities and drunken driving.

Reshu Rengaswamy says “People in our state are orthodox and they consider night parties and discos as nuisance. But they should realize that it is a great place to relax, have fun and entertainment. In New Year’s Party, while we were celebrating and welcoming New Year, battalion of policemen came and started shouting at us to leave the place”. If the law keepers are concerned, they should extend the time till 1am to 2 am.

Reshu says, “After a daylong tiresome work, people want to relax especially during weekends. If we go for a house party it is a nuisance for neighbours.

We are left with no other option then to go to pubs. So the party lovers go to pubs and clubs to let their hair down. Majority of the parties are organized with a healthy atmosphere and without any chaos. The requirement of the time is to enforce healthy rules and regulations and to enforce law to curb the wrong doings.”

Law enforcers are strict about enforcing the rules; there is possible rise of another category of parties like non alcoholic parties and day parties. One of the food and beverage manager of a top notch hotel in the city says, “Days parties are not practical idea. Who is going to attend such parties as most of the people work during day.

Most of the hotels in the city follow strict rules and regulations and thus putting such enforcement on party culture is not a good idea. The authorities should take strict against those clubs and pubs that are doing wrong and running illegal pubs and clubs without proper licenses.

There is certain anguish among the people as well as the party organizers and they want certain modification related to the timings as it really going to impact the tourism as the business at large.
