Mr. Bakhshi grieved for the current
unparalleled doubt which has troubled the tourism operation paradoxically
within days of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s exposure that one millions of
tourists visiting the state in just 10 months this year.
Vapors of vagueness are perched
throughout the winter sports this season in the Kashmir valley with the Sate
Pollution Board (PCB) having sealed over 250 hotels for evasion on setting up
Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs). Besides the respect for the judiciary and law
we want to seek answers to why coerce has been imperfect to the Kashmir valley,
Mr. Bakhshi added.
The hoteliers on Tuesday prepared a
new case for establishment of a Division Bench of the Jammu and Kashmir High
Court for before time hearing of the stuff which was else scheduled in the
initial week of February according to Faiz Ahmed who is renowned hotelier and
chairman of the coordination committee of the 3 prime association including
Kashmir Hotel and restaurant Association.
Mr. Bakhshi also figured out the
places like Patni Top and Katra which have hundreds of hotels without the STPs
in the state.
A total of 140 hotels have been
sealed with 90 at Pahalgam and 20 at Gulmarg according to Mr. Bakhshi and other
government officials.
Under the High Court’s orders which
was issued during the hearing of a PIL business operations of about 250 hotels
in Kashmir have been frozen. According to Mr. Bakhshi, fright was spread by the
PCB drive when Gulmarg was suddenly closed on 27th of September
followed by end of hotels in Srinagar and Pahalgam with many of the tourists
cancelling their bookings. It was immediately subjugated by our competitors
from Himachal Pradesh and other states.
As a result, the winter sports season which
generally starts at Gulmarg stands blemished but we have faith in our judiciary
and are hopeful of impartiality, Bakhshi added.
“We have scores of hotels, guesthouses and
houseboats functional in Srinagar. Our current availability of 15,000 rooms
includes 4,000 rooms in nearly 1,000 houseboats. None of the hotels on the
tourist hub of Boulevard has been shut,” Mr. Shah told The Hindu.
Farooq Shah, Deputy Commissioner of
Srinagar said, “None of the hotels in the tourist hub has been closed with our
present accessibility of 15, 000 rooms including 4, 000 rooms in 1, 000
houseboats. We also have scores of guesthouses, houseboats and hotels which are
running in Srinagar.”
PCB operation would have no
unenthusiastic bearing on tourism in the valley insisted Talat Parvez who is
the Kashmir Director of Tourism and Srinagar Deputy Commissioner.
