Tengapani: Tourism can enhance direct as well as indirect employment in the state claimed Chief Minister Nabam Tuki.
At the inauguration of the Golden Pagoda eco-tourism tourism complex in Lohit district, on Thursday, the Chief Minister said, “This is just the beginning of the growth of spiritual and eco tourism in the state of Arunachal Pradesh with the relic’s of Lord Buddha being installed in the pagoda for a week long display, which will provide a good opportunity for driving more number of tourists.”
Tourism Minister Pema Khandu said that the preparations were made to enhance tourism in the state, with the Rs 469.26 lakh project of the Union tourism ministry, which included the overall development of the picturesque environment overlooking the pagoda. This project involved four special suits, eight executive suits two dormitories to accommodate around 20 people each, a restaurant, multipurpose hall, an administrative block and flower garden.
Over the completion of the project in just 53 months, Tourism Parliamentary Secretary P D Sona had some words of praise for the rural works department.
Tourism Secretary Sonam Chombay claimed that the well planned project would add a new zeal to the growing eco tourism of the state. Chombay added, there are many more such projects ready to be worked upon.
Important delegates, who attended the event, were Lok Sabha member Takam Sanjoy, a host of ministers including finance minister Chowna Mein, and officers, including Lohit deputy commissioner Rajiv Takuk and SP Tume Amo.
The first ones to pay their homage to Lord Buddha’s relics at the pagoda at 8.30 am on Friday will be the chief minister, his colleagues and dignitaries, along with monks.
The 2,568 year old relics would be put on exposition at this place, till December 12 before they are taken back to National Museum, in New Delhi. Since Ladakh, this is the second time the relics were taken outside the museum for exposition.
