Enhanced air connectivity helped Australia to increase Indian tourists to 26 % in September

The commencement of Air India’s direct flight to Australia has had a positive impact on the Tourism Industry of Australia as the tourists from India visiting Australia has rise by 11 % with travellers growing at 16 % for the year ending in September 2013.

Under the India 2020 strategic plan launched by Tourism Australia in June 2012, improved air connectivity is identified as one of the prime factors in achieving the potential of 2020.

“The key to unchaining India’s long term tourism potential is definitely improved air connectivity and along with Australia enchantment we had been working with airplane partners like Malaysian and Singapore airlines. The noted overall growth can be seen from our efforts and hard works.” said Country Manager of India & Gulf Countries, Nishant Kashikar.

“The enhanced air connectivity will also play a vital role in increasing visitor traffic during the approaching Christmas/New Year and honeymoon season,” he added.

On August 29 this year, daily flights on the Delhi-Sydney-Melbourne were launched directly by Air India in a time period of 16 years.

Tourism Australia has also linked with Singapore Airlines leveraging their corporation with the domestic carrier Virgin Australia which offering 50 % of discount on domestic Australian sectors along with pacing up in India by inaugurating a third daily flight from Delhi to Singapore from October 2013.

Malaysia Airlines also offered low-priced fares to Australia as a part of another combined endorsement operation and has started its third each day flight to Sydney from 21st of November onwards as to function four times a week and budge to a daily basis in untimely period of February 2014.

From November 21st, they also started their third daily flight to Melbourne.
