Today we are going to take a tour inside the cluster of small stall which local people popularly calls it Haat Bazaar.
Previously this market was known as Raja Dorji Market but with gradual process of time it transformed itself and acquired another name which today we witness is as Haat Bazaar.
As its history is associated with the lines of British Empire, this mart is the oldest mart of the Kalimpong area. Located at a heart of Kalimpong town you can say this market is a heart of Kalimpong commercial zone and it allows many shop owners to run their livelihood.
It is an open market and its perfect location has made this accessible from any part of Kalimpong, the fresh vegetables which are cultivated by villagers are sold here in common, besides that here you will find all your wants because this market is a complete market
Lured with an amazing accessories this mart is perfect for household shopping and it is busy almost all the time but the best time when you will witness it doing the best work is during Wednesday and Saturday when market will be filled with the gatherings and you will notice people running and competing for the best deal.
As far as tourism importance is concern, traveller always misses out to see this old fashioned stall which embarks the history of Kalimpong and it has remained neglected but the beauty and its importance in lining the history of Kalimpong is well preserved under the walls of this small stall.
What’s more amazing is that Local Municipality had recently taken an initiative to build some stalls to help the local people to practice their business. So it would be an amazing experience to witness conglomeration doing their job.
Altogether there are more than 120 stall performing their task and allowing local to run their business. So come and witness the historic site of Kalimpong and do remember to buy some goods as a part of souvenir.
Except Sunday it is open all the time but as far as tourism months are concern we recommend you to visit here during the month of March to June and during September to November would be a best time for you to see this classic stall of Kalimpong commonly known as Haat bazaar.

How to Reach
Once you land in Siliguri from NJP all you are require to do is catch local cab, which will drive you here covering a distance of 65 Km and you can expect the running time to go 2 and half hour.
