Largest Tourism Festival ‘Sangai Fest” Kick Off



Imphal: Largest among all the tourism festival of Manipur, “Sangai Fest” kicked off with the colorful and lively programmers. Organised at Hapta Kangjeibung, Palace Compound, the festival was witness by the two chief ministers as Special guests. 


The festival is largest among all and is organized with pomp and show to showcase the rich heritage and culture, eco- adventure activities, interesting culture and heritage, indigenous food and many more. The festival is one of its kind and is giving a new chapter in the history of such a wonderful event taking place in Manipur and leading the way to the bilateral relationship between Manipur and Myanmmar. 

The major attraction of the festival is the cultural dance performances by the troupe from Thailand and Myanmar and also the exhibition of handloom, handicrafts, and indigenous cuisines. For this gala event, well organized and elaborated security arrangements have been made as this event is going to be witnessed by delegates from various countries. 

Though many such festivals has been celebrated in Manipur earlier, but it was in 2010 edition, the festival was renamed as Manipur Sangai Festival. The festival has elaborated the uniqueness of shy and gentle Brow-Antlered Deer popularity which is found in Loktak Lake and also for the promotion of Manipur as an ultimate world class tourism destination. 

The major programmes centres and near the government buildings where many other major programmers are going to take place, paramilitary forces and police are been deployed, said Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) L Kailun told reporters. 

The military forces are also patrolling the various parts of the state complex to look for the movements of militants in view of the recent bomb attack here by the Ultras, he said.
Deligates from Myanmar are going to be here to witness this grand gala event. More of all, the Myanmar-based airline landed at Imphal after it became an international airport. For this the landing fee would not be charged as the letter was from the state government to the Union Aviation ministry. 

The delegates from Myanmar would arrive here and would leave on November 24, according to the sources.The Manipur Sangai Festival is surely going to help promote the tourism of the region and more of all, enhance the importance of the deer, which is rare and found only in Manipur. More of all, with this event, the region is surely going to have positive impact over the tourism industry, which is the main economical backbone of Manipur.
