According to the inputs from the tourism department of
Kerala, a proposal has been put forward before the Indian railways to announce
Bekal fort as the first tourist railway station in Kerala. It is also been
reported that the railway has agreed on the proposal. According to the report
by a Times of India correspondent and official was quoted saying, "Once
this is announced, the railway station here will be developed to international
standards with modern amenities. The project is estimated to cost Rs 11.7
crores."
Not only the railway station but a cultural centre of
international standards is on the future map for Bekal Fort and for which the
government has already sanctioned a fund of Rs. 4.5 crores. A museum would be
setup inside the fort and a light show is also under the consideration in order
to promote the cultural assets of the town.
The Kerala government has pumped up efforts to promote Bekal beach. The Bekal Resorts Development Corporation
(BRDC) has submitted a report to the government for various projects whose sum
total value would come around Rs 30 crores. In the meanwhile two luxury resorts
have come up in the town namely the Taj Vivanta and the Lalit resort and Spa.
The BRDC has already acquired an area of 236.17 acres from the panchayats and
205 acres has been leased out for the development of resorts.

The kerala tourism development corporation(KTDC) has planned to launch a beach campaign and also the develop the Pallikkara beach to lure the tourists. In this effort around 20 wooden huts would be set up at the Bekal beach said the officials form KTDC. They said the new constructions would be totally eco-friendly and would not mess with the rules of the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ).

Kerala is blessed with many different tourist destinations. Munnar, Alleppey, Thekkady, Kumarakom, Kovalam etc are some of them. All these destinations are very wonderful and worth to visit.
