Kozhikode Beach to Get new Look with Modern Amenities



Kozhikode beach in Kerala is a well known beach visited by the tourists in huge number to witness the beauty of sunset and to enjoy some delicious and lip smacking sea delicacies. Looking at the tourism importance beautification work of the beach was formally inaugurated on Saturday by Tourism Minister A.P. Anil Kumar. 


The beautification work at the beach would be completed at the cost of 3.85 crores, which will bring modern amenities, rain shelters, news seating arrangements and ornamental lamps. 

Tourism Minister A.P Anilkumar, inaugurating the work said, in days to come, Kozhikode would get more attention and there will be more development in an around the beach. “So far our focus was on Wayanad and Kasargod district, but now we are focusing on Kozhikode”, he said.  

S.M street beautification work get priority and the minister said Rs. 5 crore project is under consideration of the government and is very soon going to pass and would be implemented.
Tourism Minister Mr. Anil Kumar said, the second phase development work would be completed on time and there will be no delay. 

The first phase of the beautification works will be completed within the time span of 12 months and it would be done by the Harbour Engineering Department said the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC). The tendering project would begin very soon, department added. 

DTPC secretary P.G. Rajeev said a fund of 1.50 crore has been released by the government and there will be no delays in releasing the funds in order to complete the work. “Discussions at the government-level are on to get authorization from the Port Department to clear ground for the second phase works,” he added.

In the second phase of the project, major investment would be done for developing the roads leading to the site, Mr Rajeev said. “Clearance of the port is the major factor and the clearance procedures are at the final state,” he added. During the session, M.K Raghavan, MP and Calicut development Authority Chairman N.C. Aboobacker were also present.
