Kerala Food Championship, an Initiative of the Tourism Department of Kerala



Trivandrum: What started as a noble approach to endorse the states culinary in global context highlighted the feature of the international competition which was supported and sponsored by Kerala tourism.
Labelled as The Great Kerala Food Championship it was witnessed that during the competition many budding chef took a part and enjoyed the course. 

As per the words of Shri A. P Anil Kumar, the honourable minister of tourism, the cuisine of Kerala is unique and renowned across the world not just for its amazing taste but for its healthy approach and preparation. Be it vegetarian or non vegetarian the taste of states cuisine marks the significance in global taste and preferences. So to remark and reward the same the competition is held to promote it within and outside.

The contestants was asked to apply online where each of the applicant were asked to say something about the dishes which was related with the flavour of state cuisine. The same article by the applicant was to be posted at the Kerala tourism blog and while submitting the contestants were to use the login Id and password which was entitled to them during the time of registration.

According to Harikishore, Director of department of tourism, Kerala’s cuisine is very much influenced by its rich tradition and culture and through this contest we are looking forward to mark the same where each of the contestants would experiment with the traditional recipe and spices of Kerala cuisine.

As per the source the competition will end on March 15 2014 and the contestant above 18 years are invited from all across the world and interested candidate would require registering their name and profile by login in the website called www.keralatourism.org/ food championship. 

As per the norms of the competition the candidates are not require paying any entry fee and all the applicants are requested to send only one entry form. Though he/she can send can more than one entry by using the same id but no individual would be allowed to register twice.

The candidates can send 5 entries at the max by using same id and all the applicants are encouraged to write an article following the course of state cuisine and the article and entries should be between 200 to 600 words.

In order to reward the attempt of contestant the department of tourism have called for 402 prizes and the lucky winner would get to stay in Kerala hotel for three day/night and the air fare would also encompass the reward which means traveller would get free air passes from any point of India.
