New
infrastructure of academic block and a girls' hostel is added by Kerala
Institute of Travel and Tourism in its silver jubilee year. Established in 1988
by the ministry of tourism, Government of Kerala, it was presently announced as
the nodal organization for undulating out liable tourism initiatives in the
state.
It
was running in a 200 year old to be repaired heritage building until last week
and had sought for Rs 5 crore from the Union government last year to modernize
the structure but was not provided with the financial aid.
The institution will demand for funds once more and expect they
will be granted the money, said director of KITTS Dr Rajashree Ajith.
By
fruitfully executing the Hunar Se Rozgar Tak scheme (ability development
programme targeted at employing youth of financially weaker section), with 1380
students effectively finishing the programme, KITTS has already won the
confidence of the Centre. The organization
was allotted with Rs. 7 Crores for training 7560 students this year along with
a central funding of Rs. 1crore 60 lakhs for conducting the programme last year.
With
an area of 35, 000 sq feet the newly installed educational block has 30 units
including 19 classrooms along with an auditorium, administration, library,
departments etc. KITTS ladies hostel was constructed with an amount of Rs. 2
crore and 36 lakhs within this year and can hold 61 students in its 2 storey
building.
Suman
Billa, secretary tourism said, "To make sure of KITTS development from a
centre for nationalized learning to a centre for global eminence, fine
infrastructure is needed.”
United
Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) attributed KITTS as an agency which
is accountable for the endorsement of responsible, sustainable and unanimously available
tourism in October.
Ajith
said, “The association gives KITTS the admittance to UNWTO's information
network and KITTS' views will be included when it comes to creating policy
decisions that influence the state.”
"KITTS
tourism-related business administration courses are also being updated to
convene global necessities,” he added.
