One of the most celebrated ceremonies of St. George's Forane Church which is an annual feast is illustrious on the month of May and it’s a weeklong festival where devotee from all across the world comes at the gate of the church to be a part of ceremonial event and to take blessings.
This ancient roman church which is located in Edappalli in Ernakulam is one of the sacred churches within the site and only a visit here and your thirst for eternity would find its meaning. Being a historical church which owes significant position in chapter of spiritual manifesto was established 3 centuries after the martyrdom of St. Thomas.
This church is emphatically dedicated to Virgin Mary can be considered as symphony of religion where many have learnt and found the true meaning of belief. On May 1st which is the important day of the festival you will witness statue of St. George decorated with ornaments is carried out for procession.
While it goes into street for solemn exhibition devotee showers betel leaves and puffed rice near the Roopakoode to tribute his deeds and after hour of procession it comes back to church with huge gatherings where people hover around to be a part of the feast.
